All applicants must apply through the Veterinary Medical College Application Service (VMCAS). The VMCAS application is available online at www.aavmc.org each June. The deadline for submission of applications and all application materials (including supplemental application, processing fee, transcripts and GRE scores) is October 1*.
*If October 1 falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline will move to the first day of business following the weekend or holiday.
Applicants must send a transcript from each college or university attended to MSU-CVM. Only transcripts in sealed envelopes and designated “official” by the office of the registrar will be accepted. This also applies to students currently enrolled at MSU. Transcripts are due October 1* of the year of application. Updated fall transcripts are due in the MSU-CVM Student Admissions office by January 15.
* If October 1 falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline will move to the first day of business following the weekend or holiday.
The online application includes a Letter of Recommendation in electronic (e-LOR) format. Each applicant should submit three (only) completed e-LORs. At least one of the evaluators must be a veterinarian. LORs are to be submitted electronically or by mail directly to VMCAS, not to MSU-CVM. LORs are due to be submitted by October 1.*

Standardized Test Requirements
Applicants are required to submit by October 1 of the year of application scores from the General GRE (Verbal, Quantitative and Analytical Writing sections).
Note that scores must be received by October 1. Applicants should not interpret this to mean that scores will be accepted as long as the test is taken by October 1.
Submit GRE scores directly to the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine at school code 1326. Code 1480 will deliver scores to the university's Office of Graduate Studies, not to the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Score reporting typically takes 3-4 weeks during peak season.
It is recommended that the test be taken no later than mid-August of the year of application; preferably earlier.
A test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL®) score of 213 is required for applicants whose primary language is not English.
The admissions Committee reviews completed applications of qualified applicants beginning in October. Interviews are a required part of the final process. Those selected for interview will interview on campus on pre-assigned dates in January/February.
The typical size of the first-year class at MSU-CVM is 85 students, approximately half of whom are Mississippi residents. The remainder are non-resident candidates, including five South Carolina contract and five West Virginia contract students. MSU-CVM also welcomes international students.
