The Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine (MSU-CVM) provides a clinical educational experience for second-year veterinary technology students. This program encourages the development of highly skilled individuals who are able to serve the diverse opportunities of their chosen profession while promoting quality patient care, client service, and lifelong learning.
To meet the demand for veterinary technicians in Mississippi and surrounding states, MSU-CVM and Hinds Community College in Raymond developed a one-plus-one program in 1988 to educate veterinary technology students and promote the profession of veterinary technology.
In 2000, MSU-CVM and Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia united to offer an additional one-plus-one program to serve the demand for veterinary technicians in north Mississippi and surrounding areas.
These partnerships are two of more than 80 veterinary technology programs in the United States. Maintaining a national standard of excellence, both the Hinds and Northwest programs are accredited by the AVMA.
