The Animal Health Center (AHC) is the clinical service unit of the College of Veterinary Medicine. It serves as the primary focus for clinical instruction of veterinary students and is a setting that provides postgraduates opportunity for expanded study as they complete internships or residencies.
The Animal Health Center is open to the public and functions as a primary care and referral center for the treatment of companion animals, horses, and livestock in the state of Mississippi, as well as the surrounding states. Nearly 18,000 small animals, exotics, wildlife, horses, and livestock animals are seen annually. A small animal primary care practice supplements the referral caseload and adds another dimension to the clinical instruction of our veterinary students. Our hospital has "state-of-the-art" diagnostic equipment and a small animal intensive care unit.
