Diagnostic Imaging

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

normal brainMRI uses a magnetic field and radio waves to acquire images in several imaging planes (cross section, sagittal, dorsal, etc.).  This modality is far superior to any other for evaluation of the brain and spinal cord.  It is also useful in the evaluation of some musculoskeletal diseases.  A GE Signa Excite 3.0 Tesla MRI machine is available at the Mississippi State University Institute for Imaging and Analytical Technology for diagnostic and research use.
