Dermatology

Dr. Gunter and student treating a dog Pets exhibit a wide range of skin manifestations.  Living in the southeast guarantees that people and pets will live with a high level of environmental antigens.  These antigens can promote itching, hair loss, and ear problems.  Currently, pets can be tested for specific allergens, and receive therapy to improve comfort level.  There are special shampoos developed to specifically address the unique skin needs of our pets.  Specific supplements can also be used to modulate pet health.

Whether your pet struggles with parasites, allergies, hormonal disease, or immune system disorders, our Dermatology service will help.  Dr. Juli Gunter, a board-certified dermatologist, returns to the College of Veterinary Medicine to head up this exciting dimension of Community Veterinary Services.  She will diligently work to diagnose and treat skin disease.  Our students are indeed fortunate to work side by side with her.
