Animal Health Center - Companion Animals - Surgery

The Small Animal Surgery Service at the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine is dedicated to providing your pet with the highest quality care available. We offer “state-of-the-art” facilities with digital radiography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging to aid in diagnosis of your pet’s condition. We also offer advanced surgical treatments for your pet, including repair of complicated fractures, minimally invasive surgery (arthroscopy and laparoscopy) and spinal surgery. In addition, our surgeons and technicians will work closely with your referring veterinarian to ensure continuity in medical care. (Small Animal Surgery Team photo

The referral services (see below) provided include soft tissue, orthopedic, and neurological surgery. In addition, we provide emergency surgical services and telephone consultation with your referring veterinarian. Since teaching veterinary students, veterinary interns and surgical residents is one of our primary tasks, it is essential that they be involved in the care of your pet. While in the care of the Small Animal Surgery Service, all medical decisions and procedures are under the direct guidance of an ACVS-board certified surgeon.

Post-operative rehabilitation is an essential component to your pet’s care. At Mississippi State University we offer a wide range of physical therapy options to ensure your pet the quickest recovery from their orthopedic or neurological condition. All physical therapy plans are created and performed by our certified canine rehabilitation technician. Contact MSU-CVM for more information. More information about physical therapy may be found in our brochure.
