Education
Special Interests
The study of biotransformation of environmental chemicals, particularly of agricultural chemicals such as pesticides, by rodent and human enzymes is a primary interest. The kinetics of xenobiotic metabolism is being pursued with the use of recombinant enzymes, subcellular fractions of tissues, and cell-based model systems. Analytical techniques such as LC-MS are utilized in the lab to address specific research questions. An overall goal of the research program is to understand why human individuals within a population respond differently following exposure to environmental chemicals and how these different responses can manifest in toxicity.
Primary Area of Expertise
Biochemical mechanisms of toxicology
