The MSU-CVM Equine Medicine and Surgery service provides advanced care to horses in Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, and Tennessee. All patients are managed by a team consisting of a senior faculty member, a resident, an intern, advanced level veterinary students, and certified veterinary technicians. Working closely with referring veterinarians, we provide specialty diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical services. Utilizing experienced staff and climate controlled, state-of-the art facilities, we offer 24-hour a day intensive care for critically ill horses. Our emergency service operates 365 days a year, so we are there when you and your horse need us the most. Students, interns, staff, and faculty are always available to meet the needs of sick or injured patients.
In addition to specialty services, we also provide routine veterinary care to local clients. This allows us to serve our region and to teach students the principles of equine health maintenance, such as nutritional counseling, disease surveillance, parasite control, dentistry, and vaccination programs.
