Solutions to the world's most complex challenges.

MSU CVM is home to numerous programs, studies and projects that promote collaborative, multidisciplinary teams throughout the College and across the University campus, as well as nationally and internationally that investigate and identify solutions to the world’s most complex challenges. We are committed to finding creative answers through collaboration and innovation.

At present, the aquatic medicine experts with our Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Fish (Fish Innovation Lab) are leading a $15 million United States Agency for International Development (USAID) grant aimed at improving aquaculture and fisheries systems to enhance food safety and nutrition, production and their economic impact in developing countries. Scientists in the MSU Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) are investigating the relationship of pathogens and hosts through a $10.5 million NIH grant with a goal of developing new strategies to treat and control diseases such as listeriosis, malaria, staphylococcal infections and tick- and mosquito-borne illness. And, researchers in the MSU CVM Center for Environmental Health Sciences (CEHS) are, through additional NIH funding, working to develop novel antidotes for nerve agents.

At MSU CVM, you’ll find a wealth of impressive opportunities for discovery that hold promise to improve the lives of both people and animals!

Leadership and Support
Office of Research & Graduate Studies

MSU CVM Office of Research and Graduate Studies (ORGS) is a service unit that provides leadership in research administration and graduate education to CVM faculty, research staff, graduate students and veterinary students.

ORGS also provides administrative oversight and direction for CVM’s graduate programs, which include the veterinary medical sciences MS and PhD programs and the PhD program in environmental toxicology.

Biomedical Training
Summer Research Experience

MSU CVM offers one of only 15 National Institutes of Health (NIH)- funded summer research programs.

This 12-week program provides veterinary students with training in biomedical research and teaches them skills that will help them develop into leaders in the veterinary profession.
